~Book Review: Enough by Danielle Norman~

Enough (Iron Orchids #1)

Published November 2, 2017

Some information on Enough

* Contemporary Romance, with laugh out loud moments, and a pinch of drama.

ARIEL & KAYSON
Some things in life were inevitable; death, taxes, and lying, whoremongering men.
One woman would never be enough for one man.
So I traded in men for a Harley.
Nothing beats that kind of power between my legs.
Then I blinked.
And he was there.

Some things in life were inevitable; death, taxes, and badge bunnies willing to hop into my bed.
The only problem is I’m a one woman kind of man.
In my line of work, I’ve seen it all.
Nothing bothers me until I find a woman’s wrecked body.
When she blinked,
My world changed.

Forever doesn't come close to giving me enough of her.

My thoughts and review:

This is a good, solid first book in the Iron Orchids series.
Ariel is very independent in the world and very alone.  Just the way she likes it (sometimes).  She has sworn off men after being hurt one too many times.  That is until she meets motorcycle cop and her rescuer, Kayson.  Will he be enough to sweep her off her feet or just another bad guy?

I really enjoyed reading this book.  This is the first book that I have read  by Danielle Norman and it will not be my last.  The book was well paced and a quick read.  A sexy cop as one of the main characters, what more could you ask for?

Thank you to Goodreads and the author for providing me with a signed copy of this book.  All thoughts are my own.

~Review: The Girl Who Ignored Ghost by K.C. Tansley~

The Girl Who Ignored Ghost
Book 1 The Unbelievables
K.C. Tansley
Published August 1, 2015 by Beckett Publishing

AMAZON     B&N

Kat Preston doesn’t believe in ghosts. Not because she’s never seen one, but because she saw one too many. Refusing to believe is the only way to protect herself from the ghost that tried to steal her life. Kat’s disbelief keeps her safe until her junior year at McTernan Academy, when a research project for an eccentric teacher takes her to a tiny, private island off the coast of Connecticut.

The site of a grisly mystery, the Isle of Acacia is no place for a girl who ignores ghosts, but the ghosts leave Kat little choice. Accompanied by her research partner, Evan Kingsley, she investigates the disappearance of Cassie Mallory and Sebastian Radcliffe on their wedding night in 1886. Evan’s scientific approach to everything leaves Kat on her own to confront a host of unbelievables: ancestral curses, powerful spells, and her strange connection to the ghosts that haunt Castle Creighton.

But that’s all before Kat’s yanked through a magic portal and Evan follows her. When the two of them awaken 129 years in the past with their souls trapped inside the bodies of two wedding guests, everything changes. Together, Kat and Evan race to stop the wedding-night murders and find a way back to their own time—and their own bodies—before their souls slip away forever.

My thoughts and review:

As a child Kat Preston could see and communicate with ghosts.  Until one fateful event forces her to stop believing and start protecting herself from the unknown.  A project for her high school, the prestigious McTernan Academy forces her to reconnect with her old ghost friends.  While researching at the Grand Castle Creighton on a private island in Connecticut, Kat and her friends must uncover the secrets of the island including all the unexplained deaths and disappearances.

When Kat is suddenly thrust back into the past 129 years, she must find out the secrets of the castle quickly, or risk being trapped in the past forever.  It is a race against the clock for Kat and her friends.

This is a great first book in a series.  This is a multi genre book.  It is YA mixed with some mystery and some paranormal thrown in.  A great concept and a fresh new twist to a storyline.

I want to thank Netgalley and Beckett Publishing for sending me a copy of this book for review.  All thoughts are my own and I receive no compensation for my review.

~Review and Giveaway: The Heartbreak Cure by Amanda Ashby~

The Heartbreak Cure
Amanda Ashby
Publication Date:  December 4, 2017
Entangled Teen Crush

The eBook is only $2.99

AMAZON     B&N     KOBO

How to get over a heartbreak:

Step one: Eat your body weight in brownies.

Step two: Throw yourself into your dreams of becoming a famous writer.

Step three: Beg your (hottie) ex-neighbor to act as your fake boyfriend.

Step four: Skip step three unless you’re ready for some serious fallout.

After being dumped and humiliated over the summer, Cat Turner does what any sane girl would do. She asks bad boy Alex Locke to be her fake boyfriend and show the world (and her editor at the school newspaper) that she's fine. Problem is, the more time she spends with Alex, the more she risks getting her heart broken. For real this time.

Disclaimer: This Entangled Teen Crush book contains a swoony bad boy who will melt your heart, brownies, and witty banter. One, two, or all three might prove addictive…

My thoughts and review

Cat Turner is a nice girl that has just had her heart broken on social media.  Having to start the school year with everyone talking about her is not going to be easy but Cat comes up with a spur of the moment plan.  Her old neighbor and resident 'bad boy' Alex agrees to be her pretend boyfriend so everyone will leave her alone.  They only need to pretend for a couple of days until everything goes back to normal, right?

What can I say?  Wow! What a great book.  A nice storyline that flowed throughout the book.  A quick read that I read in one day.  Cat is a strong character who is always thinking ahead.  She has big dreams and goals for herself.  Alex has had a lot of bad things happen to him in his life.  He is way to hard on himself and forgets that he is just a kid.  Having to grow up too fast he enjoys hanging out and spending time with Cat.

The book was predictable but a wonderful read nevertheless.
I wish there had been more to the storyline of what happened over the summer between Cat and her 'ex-boyfriend'.  Why did Cat and Alex stop being friends?  Some books leave you with questions and this is one of them.

Entangled Teen Crush always publishes wonderful, quick, fun reads and this is definitely one of them.  I would recommend this book to everyone.

Thank you to Entangled Teen Crush and Netgalley for providing me with a ARC of this book.  All thoughts in this review are my own and I receive no monetary compensation.

Since I loved this book so much and I know you will too, I am giving away an eBook of The Heartbreak Cure.  The release date is December 4th.  An early Christmas present to yourself! All you have to do is enter using the rafflecopter below.

The last thing eleven-year-old Ruby Tabeata expected to happen on her way to a Jack Kerouac reading was to be hauled to the police station.
It’s 1958 and Ruby is the opposite of a 1950s stereotype: fierce, funny and strong willed, she is only just starting to chart her course in a family of Beat Generation artists in Greenwich Village.

Ruby dreams of meeting famous poets while becoming one herself; instead, she’s accused of trying to steal fruit from a local vendor and is forced to live in a children’s home. As Ruby struggles to return to family and friends, she learns her only choice is to follow her heart.

Join Ruby’s journey as she finds unexpected friendships, the courage to rebel against unjust authority and the healing power of art in this inspiring middle-grade novel by Jenna Zark.

My thoughts and review

This book starts out quick paced and doesn't slow down.  Ruby is on her way to a reading by her favorite writer,  Jack Kerouac.  Due to unseen circumstances she never gets to meet her idol.  Instead, her life and those around her is thrown into a tailspin.  Set in the 1950's beatnik generation, this book allows us to catch a glimpse of this era.  Ruby is a street smart kid who writes her own poetry, does not trust 'The Man" including cops and authority figures and is wise way beyond her years.  Being a Kerouac fan I enjoyed this book tremendously and read it in one sitting.

Jenna Zark is an extremely talented writer who takes us back to this generation.  This is not the book that I would typically read but I am glad that I did.  I did give the book 4 1/2 stars. The ending could have been tied up a little more neatly but hopefully this leaves room for another book in this series.  It is hard for Ruby to understand that those around her only want what is best for her.  Sometimes it is hard to remember that she is only a child despite her grown attitude.

I am also giving away a Kindle or Nook eBook to one lucky reader.  I enjoyed this book so much and I know you guys will to.  Enter using the Rafflecopter below.

Thank you so much to the Author and Editor for supplying me with a copy of this book for review.

~Review and Giveaway: The Breakup Support Group by Cheyanne Young~

The Breakup Support GroupThe Breakup Support Group
by Cheyanne Young
Genre: Romance
Age category: Young Adult

Blurb:
After four years of first love bliss, Isla Rush just got dumped. Any hope she has of winning her ex-boyfriend back is shattered when the town rezones her neighborhood, forcing her to spend senior year at a wealthy high school in the next town over. With a broken heart consuming her soul, Isla can’t focus on anything in class. Hell, she can barely get out of bed each morning. Her new school has too many confusing hallways, unfriendly faces, and Emory Underwood—a ridiculously hot guy who dates a new girl almost every day. She can’t help but crush on him, even though she knows it’s wrong.

When memories of her ex make her cry in second period, the school counselor sends Isla to a club that meets during lunch. The Breakup Support Group is a collection of broken-hearted misfits who are all trying to help each other heal. For the first time since her break up, Isla’s heart is on the mend now that she has the support group. Then Emory shows up, forced to atone for all the broken hearts he’s caused over the years. While hiding her massive crush, she helps him understand the seriousness of breaking a heart and he helps her get back on the dating scene.

Part of her peer-prescribed therapy is to learn the art of dating around. Emory offers to be her fake date for the homecoming dance, and she’s happy to accept. He’s just a crush, after all—she can handle a night of playing pretend. When the date ends with a toe-curling kiss on her front porch, all of her well-placed boundaries come crumbling down. After months of therapy, the pieces of her heart are finally healed. And now she just handed it over to a guy who only knows how to break them.

Isla is starting a new high school her senior year.  She has also just gotten dumped by her jerk boyfriend after 4 years.  Life cannot get much worse.  After having a few breakdowns in class, her guidance councilor suggest that she try The Breakup Support Group. Sitting around listening to a bunch of strangers will not help her get over the love of her life?  Or will it?  There is also the handsome Emory who seems to be there every time she turns around.  Will Isla finally open up to the group or spend her senior year miserable and heartbroken?

This is just the book that I needed to pull me out of my reading slump.  A fun and quick read about first love and what happens after.  The Breakup Support Group is a new and fun concept to YA literature.  How many of us wish we had this kind of support group when we were in high school?  The characters are well written and very likable.  Isla is such a strong character who needs a little help with all the changes going on in her life.  Emory is a wonderful friend who may want more.  Cheyanne Young did a really wonderful job writing this book and developing the characters.  This is a fun quick read that you should read now!

Because I loved this book so much and I know you will to, I am giving away a Kindle copy of The Breakup Support Group.

~Review: River Queen Rose by Shirley Kennedy~

Add to Goodreads

The ramshackle River Queen Hotel is home to vagabonds, gamblers, and heathens—and now, to new widow Rose Peterson. The rundown Gold Rush establishment is the only thing her late husband, Emmet, left her. Despite its raucous saloon and ladies of the evening, Rose can see the hotel’s potential. Her late husband’s family claim that sheltered Rose isn’t capable of running the Sacramento inn herself. But she is determined to make a new life for herself and her young daughter, even if it means flying in the face of custom and propriety. She feels as if she hasn’t a friend in the world.

Except, perhaps, one. Decatur “Deke” Fleming, a tall, lanky Australian who once served as Emmet’s farmhand. Pride prevents Deke from revealing his moneyed past; conscience keeps him from confessing his feelings for the still grieving widow. But when Rose is tempted by wealthy civic leader and hotel owner Mason Talbot, Deke may be the only person who can save her—and the one man capable of reviving her bruised and battered heart.

I would like to thank Goodreads and the Author of this book for providing a copy of this book to me.  I really enjoyed this book.  It is a sweet romance starring a recently widowed woman who is trying to find a place for herself after the death of her husband.  Her husbands family think that she is incapable of doing anything for herself much less taking ownership of the hotel that her husband left her.  This book is fast paced and a quick read complete with a love triangle.  You will not be disappointed with this book.
